Laser Rejuvenation – ReBright
Discolouration, broken veins (telangiectasia), pigmentation, sun spots and uneven skin tone can be caused by a variety of factors such as sun exposure, genetics, ageing, hormones and much more.
Ageing skin isn’t just about lines and wrinkles, but also the noticeable discolouration of our skin. Sun damage can create pigmentation and sun spots; visible red veins and areas of redness, often around the nose and cheeks can be caused by aging, diet or other health issues.
ReBright technology addresses pigmentation, discolouration and thread veins by selectively heating and eliminating them directly to help provide a more even skin tone, dramatically reducing the appearance of ageing skin.
This advanced technology can also help with rosacea, general redness and provides a clearer, fresher looking skin.
What can it treat?
We use ReBright laser to address specific skin concerns, as well as addressing general discolouration to leave skin brighter and more even-toned. Some conditions that can be treated include:
- Facial thread veins (telangiectasia) or ‘broken veins’
- Pigmentation, brown marks, sun or age spots, freckles
- General sun damage, discolouration or uneven skin colour
- Some leg veins: assessed at consultation, we can also perform micro-sclerotherapy for these
- Spider naevi, haemangiomas (‘red spots’)
- Most red lesions, including some port wine stains
How does it work?
Precisely controlled short pulses of light target red and brown discolouration in the skin. The red vessels or brown pigmentation are heated to the point of destruction, and then disappear.
The light energy has the added benefit of stimulating fibroblast cells, leading to increased production of collagen and elastin. This improves the texture of the skin, creating a more even skin tone.
Am I suitable?
Yes, most people are suitable. A full consultation will be carried out to tailor treatment to your specific needs. You will need to have a test patch prior to treatment and some people with darker skins may not be suitable for this treatment.
Does it hurt?
Treatment can by mildly uncomfortable, but no anaesthesia is required and most people describe the sensation as a quick warm ‘flicking’ feeling. Treatment times vary but typically range from 15 to 45 minutes. During treatment a hand piece is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. This process is repeated until the whole area is covered.
Protective eyewear will be worn throughout and skin will be cooled after treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
- Skin texture will improve, leaving a complexion that is softer, smoother with less visible pores, more uniform in colour with a healthy glow
- Immediately after treatment skin may be quite red and warm, and slight swelling may occur, but this usually subsides very quickly. Cooling cream will be applied after treatment to calm the skin.
- Temporary changes in skin colour can happen, but most people experience no side effects and skin reactions usually disappear within a few hours.
- You may see a darkening of treated skin lesions showing a good response before they start to fade.
- Over the months following the treatment, the skin should gradually tighten and firm as new collagen in produced within the dermis.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatments are usually carried out every 2-4 weeks, but an individual treatment plan will be discussed at your initial consultation. Some indications, such as sun spots, may be successfully treated with just a single treatment. Other conditions, such as rosacea, may need a course of 3-6 treatments and top-up sessions may be recommended once or twice a year.
