PRP Roseneath Skin Clinic

PRP Therapy – Platelet Rich Plasma

This is a non-surgical treatment that utilises your body’s own healing abilities to stimulate skin and follicle recovery.

PRP, or stem cell therapy, is being used more and more in recent years in a variety of medical settings, including anti-ageing, hair re-growth, and in other fields such as treating arthritis and joint problems, and is recognised as an exciting, innovative treatment option. Our nurse has been using PRP in Guernsey for a long time to achieve natural, long-lasting results.

What can it treat?

For anti-ageing effects PRP can be used to address common concerns on the face and body, such as:

  • Crow’s feet and fine lines
  • Loose skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Cellulite
  • Scarring
  • General loss in skin texture and tone.

By stimulating your body’s natural healing response and encouraging collagen production this treatment helps your skin look smoother and more plumped, leaving your skin rejuvenated and renewed.

Hair loss and alopecia is a common concern for both men and women and can be successfully treated with PRP. The natural growth factors in your blood are harvested and reintroduced into the hair follicle, stimulating hair growth to help give you fuller thicker hair. This can be particularly effective in receding hair lines and bald spots.

PRP - Hair Restoration

How does it work?

Our experienced nurse will draw a small amount of blood into a sterile tube, exactly the same as a standard blood test.

This is spun in a medical CE, FDA approved centrifuge to separate the plasma and platelets from the other blood components.

The PRP layer (platelet rich plasma) is removed and re-introduced to the treatment area, either with a sterile needle injecting tiny amounts into the area, or it can be applied topically in conjunction with micro-needling.

Natural results for skin tone before and after one session of PRP

Am I suitable?

Nearly everyone is suitable for treatment as your own blood is used to create the PRP. However, a full consultation and medical history will be taken and a realistic guide to possible results will be given.

Does it hurt?

Most people tolerate treatment very well, but a topical anaesthetic cream can be used if required.

What should I expect after treatment?

  • Downtime is minimal; there may be some minor redness, but the beauty of PRP is that you are using the power of your own collagen boosting blood cells. This means there is no risk of adverse reactions to foreign components.
  • The production of collagen induced by PRP will brighten, rejuvenate and rehydrate the skin even a few weeks after one treatment.
  • A course of three to four treatments may be recommended to see the full effect of this pioneering technique.

Hair loss treatment:

Reduction in hair loss is noticeable within 8 weeks and hair growth should be complete 3-6 months after the last treatment. A course of treatments is usually needed 1-3 months apart, which will be assessed at your consultation.
