MINT™ PDO Thread Lift
Dr Jose Lavarello is offering the PDO MINT™ thread lift procedure for a non-surgical face-lift at Guernsey’s Roseneath Skin Clinic.
A PDO MINT™ treatment is a highly effective and safe method of repositioning sagging tissues and stimulating collagen to improve skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles and elasticity to create a firmer and tighter look. With longer lasting results, this procedure fills the gap between invasive surgery and injectable treatments.
These dissolvable sutures work by mechanically lifting the tissue to stitch it to a lifted position, and also stimulates your own natural collagen production for lasting rejuvenation. After first becoming popular in the 1990’s, this procedure has been refined and uses blunt-tipped cannula to minimise potential side effects and discomfort.
What can it treat?
MINT are the premium brand of PDO threads available. PDO threads are great for lifting and tightening sagging skin. The most common area addressed is the lower face:
- Jowl area
- Lines between the mouth and nose (naso-labial folds)
- Down-turned or ‘sad’ mouth
- Lines coming down from the mouth (marionette lines)
How does it work?
Threads are dissolvable stitches that promote collagen and elastin production. A thread has structures within it that enable it to hook into and lift the tissue beneath the skin. This mechanically lifts the skin, giving an instantly lifted appearance, acting like a non-surgical face lift.
Over the next few months the threads stimulate the body’s collagen production, so as the suture itself is broken down, your body’s own collagen will continue to provide an improvement.
Am I suitable?
You will need to have a consultation to assess your individual concerns to ensure you are suitable for treatment and will be advised of the most likely treatment results you can expect. Both men and women are candidates, and the most common age is 40-60.
Any alternative or combined treatments may be discussed as well. If you have mid, or lower face laxity, sagging jowls, lines between your mouth and nose or around the sides of your mouth you may be suitable for treatment.
This procedure is not suitable in certain circumstances, such as pregnancy, heavy smokers or if you have had recent surgery. You will need to provide a medical history and inform us of any medication you are taking.
Does it hurt?
Doctor Lavarello is a registered dentist with a special interest in surgical procedures, such as dental implants, and facial aesthetics. His many years of experience means you will benefit from his expertise with anaesthesia administration and sterile working practices.
Most people tolerate treatment very well, and local anaesthetic is applied prior to the procedure. There may be some discomfort during or after treatment, with some bruising or tenderness at times.
What should I expect after treatment?

You may return to everyday life immediately after the procedure if you wish.

For 2-3 weeks avoid exaggerated facial expressions for example weight lifting or eating foods that require you to open your mouth very wide.

The amount of down time varies. There may be some swelling, bruising or tenderness for 7-10 days after treatment. A cold compress may help.
Results are often instant, and usually last a minimum of 12-18 months depending on the individual.
